Welcome
Preserve Denver's Historic Union Station.

We urge all Coloradans to support open space and the preservation of Denver's Historic Union Station by showing Denver's Mayor Hickenlooper that his position to do likewise has strong, statewide support.
The planning for Denver Union Station as the hub of the RTD FasTracks system started in 2002 with a Citizen Advisory Committee. Now, a final concept has been agreed upon for the overall transit hub and Transit
Village, and the future of the historic plaza and its relation to the historic building must be attended to.
We need your help to make sure that Union Station is a facility that we can all be proud of!
The Master Plan has two proposed buildings in the plaza at each end of the original 1881 wings of the Station. These will block
all major views of and from the Station, and will eat up a lot of open space that otherwise can be a "Great Public Place." The Sierra
Club supports the Draft Master Plan with one significant exception: We want to protect the historical integrity of the building, its setting, open space and broad vistas.
A new organization called the Open Space Initiative Group (OSIG), comprised of design and planning professionals, has worked with the UCD College of Architecture and Planning to compare the best design alternatives
that support the "Great Public Space" concept. Many of the key parties support this idea, but they want to hear from citizens of Denver. So, we have started an online "petition" to support the Open Space Initiative proposal.
Please take a minute to Sign the Petition.
Thank you!
