TELEPHONE SOLICITATION PRACTICES Whereas the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Sierra Club uses telephone solicitation to recruit new members and raise money to support Chapter projects and activities; and Recognizing that telephone solicitation is an inherently intrusive activity to which many people object; It is resolved by the Rocky Mountain Chapter Executive Committee that 1. The Rocky Mountain Chapter will take appropriate steps to assure that its members are protected from unwanted solicitation calls that may arise from the use of the Rocky Mountain Chapter's list(s); 2. When involved in telephone solicitation activities, the Rocky Mountain Chapter and its Groups and committees will make a concerted effort to locate and use preferentially those lists which have been purged of the names and telephone numbers of people who object to receiving solicitation calls; 3. The Rocky Mountain Chapter supports legislation and regulation that effectively protects all telephone consumers from unwanted solicitation calls and urges the United States Congress, the Federal Communications Commission, the Colorado General Assembly, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and other appropriate governmental bodies to take action that assures this protection at the earliest possible date; and 4. The Rocky Mountain Chapter urges the Board of Directors of the Sierra Club to adopt a similar policy at the national level.
