CHAPTER POLITICAL COMMITTEE COMPOSITION The individual selected to Chair the Political Committee, as well as the individuals selected to serve on the Committee, should be selected on the basis of their knowledge, experience, time available, commitment to attend and participate in committee meetings, and desire to get involved in the political process. Geographic and political balance should also be factors in selection of committee members. The Political Committee shall be made up of eight or seven members, depending on whether or not the Chapter Chair will be a voting member. The Chapter Chair and Political Chair shall decide whether the Chapter Chair will be a voting member before the Chapter Executive Committee confirms the Political Committee composition in January of an even-numbered year. The Political Committee shall also have an alternate member, who will become a voting member of the committee in case a member drops out. The alternate can participate in and be kept advised of all Political Committee meetings, although he/she cannot vote on endorsements. No more than three members of the Political Committee can also serve on the Chapter Executive Committee. The Treasurer and Compliance Officer of the committee may be members of the Political Committee, but their membership is not automatic. After recruiting members for the Political Committee, the Political Chair should refer the roster to the Chapter Executive Committee for approval.
