DISPLAY ADVERTISING IN PEAK AND PRAIRIE Recognizing the importance and desirability of advertising as a service to the readership of PEAK AND PRAIRIE and as a source of income for the Rocky Mountain Chapter, the Rocky Mountain Chapter Executive Committee authorizes PEAK AND PRAIRIE to solicit and publish advertisements. The Rocky Mountain Chapter shall employ an advertising sales manager who shall solicit advertisements and act as the first line of defense against inappropriate advertisements. The advertising sales manager, the editor of PEAK AND PRAIRIE, and the chair of the Rocky Mountain Chapter Executive Committee shall determine a rate schedule for PEAK AND PRAIRIE advertising which includes discounts for quantity purchases of advertising space. The advertising sales manager shall be entitled to a 25% commission on all sales as well as reimbursement for all reasonable expenses incurred in the process of soliciting advertisements. The editor of PEAK AND PRAIRIE is authorized to accept advertisements which do not conflict with written Sierra Club policy, contain false or misleading information, or violate publication standards. No advertisement shall be given final approval until the editor has examined its copy in order to determine that it complies with these rules while serving the interests of the readers of PEAK AND PRAIRIE. The editor shall consult with the chair of the Rocky Mountain Chapter Executive Committee before accepting questionable advertisements. Although advertising provides significant income to the Rocky Mountain Chapter, financial gain shall not be the primary factor in determining whether a particular advertisement will be accepted. The space occupied by paid advertisements shall not exceed one third of the total space in PEAK AND PRAIRIE. New advertisers must furnish credit references or pay in advance before their advertisements will be accepted. New advertisements from advertisers with outstanding invoices greater than ninety days old shall not be accepted.
