OHVs used on Forest Service and other dirt/unimproved roads allow day-trips to places that would take days of hiking to reach. They give those who are older and less physically fit access to some of the same beauty that we see from hiking trails. However used improperly they can quickly cause damage that takes many years to heal and spoils the beauty of the place for all who follow.
The owner of this jeep was obviously out tearing up the meadow when he became stuck. To bad it isn't quicksand.

As you can see this jeep (and I'm sure others) made quite a mess of High Park off of FS 379. When I called the Forest Service to report it and offer to send them my pictures I was told that "IF someone went out there they would take their own pictures." If someone went out there? Maybe they see this kind of wetland destruction all the time but it definitely was a shock to me.
