> Home Welcome to the Poudre Canyon GroupPlease attend and bring your friends to the Fort Collins City Council meeting this Tuesday, May 21, at 6pm to ask the council for a 5 year moratorium on drilling and fracking in Fort Collins. If the council does not take action, the current moratorium will expire in July and operators will be allowed to drill and frack many new wells, using toxic chemicals and techniques that endanger public health and the environment. Citizens have the right to protect their communities from dangerous activities. There are compelling precedents for the legal defensibility of an extended moratorium based on health studies. 5 years will allow the city to obtain and review the results of health impact studies by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment (CDPHE), and National Science Foundation (NSF) which are now under way. We encourage you to wear green or white as a show of solidarity with others who want to protect Fort Collins from toxic fracking. Arrive between 5:30 and 5:45 to meet with local Sierra Club leaders to discuss next steps. Please RSVP and call Lauren at (303) 887-5951 to connect with us. Event Details: Here is some more great information on the downside of fracking: http://ecowatch.com/2013/will-the-colorado-river-get-fracked/ Sign up here for regular email announcements of upcoming local events, outings, news and alerts:
