Layout/Design Help Needed
The Peak & Prairie is looking for an energetic, creative layout/design person to join our staff. If you meet the following desired qualifications, please send 3 samples of your design/layout work (newsletters preferred), plus a brief resume and two references to Kevin Mackessy, 4329 Swansboro Way, Highlands Ranch, CO. Submit all materials by Feb. 15, 1999.
Able to commit to at least one year of working with us.
Able to meet FIRM deadlines (layout is expected to be completed in one week).
Willing to spend 15-20 hours (depending on experience) per bimonthly issue.
Have own equipment (Mac or PC) or absolutely guaranteed access to equipment.
Have access to large format printer, 11X17 paper.
Have access to a scanner, FAX, email and internet.
Have layout/design experience in Quark or PageMaker.
Understand grids and template construction.
Understand scanning of ads, graphics and photos.
Live in Metro area to interact with editorial and WEB staff.
Able to attend bimonthly editorial meeting at Sierra Club office in Denver.
Familiar with commercial printing specs and be willing to drop off final layout to local printer.
Familiar with PDF format and WEB publishing.
What you can expect:
Work with an experienced, dynamic editorial team on a prestigious environmental publication.
Work with the team on a complete redesign of the P&P with much creative latitude.
Gather valuable experience and portfolio samples.
Volunteer position, but small stipend may be available after two completed issues.
