1998 Legislative Update
On January 7, 1998, the 61st Colorado General Assembly will begin its second regular session. There will be one new legislator; Lola Spradley (R-Pueblo County) has been sworn in to replace Larry Schwarz (R-Wetmore). Twenty-seven legislators (9 senators and 18 representatives) will be completing their final terms in their present positions. All are prohibited from seeking reelection to their current seats, but many will be seeking election to different positions in November.
The Sierra Club is committed to providing information about important environmental issues to all lawmakers. Especially now, at a time of unprecedented growth, most Coloradans are worried about preserving the qualities that make our state such a desirable place to live. Legislators need to be alerted to bills that affect our air, water, public lands, wildlife and other resources.
Again this year a Legislative Update will be prepared biweekly and distributed in both the Senate and House of Representatives. It will also be mailed first class and/or sent electronically to Sierra Club chapter and group leaders. If you want to help support our legislative efforts and subscribe to the Update, complete the form below and mail it with $8 to the chapter office.
