  Example Description:
Black Lake Snowshoe
December 12, 2006
Snowshoe with Indian Peaks Group to a remote and
beautiful lake deep within Rocky Mountain National
Park. We'll travel on a snow-covered trail that
follows frozen Glacier Creek up to Mills Lake then
on up Glacier Gorge to Black Lake - a mountain-ringed
black tarn that in winter is a scene of stark and
desolate beauty. We'll follow an interesting and
varied route through pine & aspen forests, a small
canyon of strikingly black rock, and past the
vast beauty of Mills Lake and Glacier Gorge. This
is a strenuous hike on snowshoes of about 10
miles round trip with about 1400 feet of elevation
gain. Bring: snowshoes, poles, warm boots, warm
clothing, hat, gloves, sunglasses, sun screen,
lunch, extra food and water. Limited to 12. Contact
Mike Leaderman at 303-555-1111 or email@comcast.net
to sign up.
